Arsenal for your summer peeper

From lip color, to blushers, concealers and foundations, makeup is evolving into a new form: stick!

Cosmetics that come as pencils, according to makeup artist Bambi de la Cruz, are so handy that they do not take too much space in your bag and one need not bring brushes when one travels. She personally prefers eyeshadow sticks that dabble as eyeliners, so “you do not have to bring an entire eyeshadow palette to the beach.”

“What’s more,” she says, “using eyeshadow pencils, you can create your own tattoo and body art like small stars for beach parties or watching a concert.”
This summer, Bambi says, “Shimmery shades are ‘in.’” Using two-in-one eyeshadow and eyeliner sticks like the new Browhaus Bi-liners, she says, enables one to create a subtle smoking eye.
“The Bi-liner comes with a smudger, but you can still use your fingers and the warmth of your fingers to blend,” the cosmetologist notes.
Arranged in a small box like crayons, Browhaus Bi-liners come in five metallic shades — Noir Shimmer, Midnight Blue, Burgundy, Amber and Blush. Each stick costs P498 while all five are bundled at P1998.
“In the morning, you make an effort to shape your eyebrows, only to find it gone towards the middle of the day,” Bambi laments, which is why she is happy there are innovations like the new Browhaus Classic Brow Lead. This waterproof eyebrow pencil, she says, ensures that your brow stays in shape even after you swim and workout.
Created with the modern woman’s active lifestyle in mind, the Browhaus Classic Brow Lead assumingly provides 24-hour lasting wear. The smooth-finish pencil comes with a built-in soft-bristle brush on the other end for finishing touches. It also comes with a sharpener, so your brows will always look on point. For best results, fill in brow gaps with light, feathery strokes in the same direction as your hair growth, then brush stray hairs in place.
Browhaus Classic Brow Lead is sold for P648 and is available in Blonde, Soft Brown and Asphalt.
For brides who are not comfortable with false eyelashes but want to have the same effect, De la Cruz vouches for the Browhaus High-Definition (HD) Mascara, made of clay minerals that add gloss and help lengthen and hold the curl without your lashes feeling stiff or dry. The mascara’s specially-designed brush allegedly picks up just the right amount of formula to ensure that lashes are evenly coated and well-defined without being clumpy. The waterproof mascara comes in black and is priced at P998.
To get the cat eyes of Angelina Jolie, Bambi suggests using Browhaus Precision Eyeliner, which offers long-lasting smudge-proof wear and intense color for up to 24 hours, making it ideal even for ladies with oilier eyelids. Its felt-tip applicator allows for precision lining, so you can change your look from fresh thinly-lined lids to dramatic Cleopatra wing-tips with ease. Erasing mistakes is a breeze as the eyeliner washes off easily with warm water.
“Once you get the hang of doing the cat eye, you can ‘level up’ to the exaggerated wing, like the Amy Winehouse look,” De la Cruz urges.
To make makeup removal easier, Browhaus also introduces Erase Make-Up Remover, an oil-based formula suitable for sensitive skin. It is said to be fragrance- and paraben-free, and does not leave an oily residue.
Browhaus’ first ever eye makeup range, says Monique Jamlang, who handles marketing and public relations for Browhaus, are made of mostly natural ingredients, so they are reportedly so safe, “You can sleep on them,” she assures.
She further explains that since Browhaus specializes in eyebrow grooming, it has decided to launch its own eye makeup collection that is safe to use even by those who had just undergone treatments from the eyebrow and eyelash salon. These services include the chain’s signature Brow Resurrection and the relatively new eyebrow and lip tattooing, though the company has no plans yet to come up with makeup for lips and the rest of the face, says Jamlang.
“We want to concentrate first on the eyes because these are the windows to your soul; they frame the face; they are the first things that draw people to you,” she maintains. “Our eyes tell so much emotion. With well-groomed eyes, you don’t have to say anything.”

Browhaus’ eye makeup range is available at all Browhaus outlets in the Philippines. Visit www.browhaus.com/manila for store listings.
